What is Wicca

Modern Wicca is a branch in witchcraft and paganism. Based on Nature and worship a Goddess and a God as a polarit Pentagram y. Celebrating the coming and going of the seasons, in the wheel of the year, the Sabbats.

Wicca is a polytheist religion, a pantheon of Gods and Goddesses who are all one. And are recognisable inside ourselves and outside. A nature based lifestyle who embraces the spark of life in every living thing, animism. The whole essence is respect.

Hinduism, Buddhism and Native American are all examples of polytheist religions.

We have no one leader or prophet to follow, nor a holy book with all the answers. Every witch accepts her-his responsibility of their lives. Witchcraft is a path of exploring and experience using your own intuition. The mystery of the hidden aspects lies within.

What is a Coven and how can I find one?

A Coven is a group of witches together. Traditionally it exists of a High Priestess a High Priest, female and male witches priest-esses. Thirteen in total, nowadays this can be less or even more, if two or three Covens come together to celebrate one of the festivals. It is still hard to find a training coven who is excepting people to join them. If you are a genuine person, there are books and magazines to read who sometimes refer to groups, surf at the net, or go to a meeting, talk. Today there are the “pub-moots”, a gathering of people who can meet and greet witches talk to them and ask questions. You can find your local ones sometimes at the web.
Most covens guide and help you with your training, normally a year and a day, even longer and initiate you in that tradition.

How much cost a training?

Nothing at all. You can be asked to bring something to eat or drink to share with all.

What is the minimum age?

Covens initiate only when you re 18 years or older! This is the age by law that you have responsibility for yourself. Before that, there are ones who guide teenagers from 14-18 usually with their parents, or at least their approval, to help them understand more about the craft. There's certainly no magic involved at this age.

What is the Initiation and how do you become a High Priestess or High Priest?

Initiation comes when you are ready for it. Usually after training within a tradition of your choice.

You're first initiation makes you a witch and priest-ess. You continue to work with your own awareness and Coven. This doesn’t give you certain powers like all of a sudden you’ve become psychic! There are ways to learn and develop your intuition, and that’s pleasure mixed with hard work!

Your second degree, will be given to you, normally you don’t ask for that. This makes you a High Priest-ess and you can start up your own coven. The last and third degree, which also is given, mostly with your working partner. Here you can initiate others and you are autonomous. The last degrees are a title, becoming a High priest-ess is hard work. We all feel that the first initiation is very special! As in life, as in the craft, you never stop learning and developing though.

The Book of Shadows or B.O.S

This is a book that every new witch writes from the coven by hand. A frame of the Sabbats and Esbats, other Rituals and spells.

The idea is to add to it, or write your own.

How about sex, sexuality and orgies, are you naked in your rites?

Witches see sex as natural and sacred. We weren't born without love and sex! There are no sex-orgies at our rites. Sex-magic is only used in a solid relationship, and in private! A beautiful example of this is that the couple likes to make and receive a child in a sacred way. Witches don t approve of child pornography or sexual abuse. Sex happens between people who like to express their feelings for each other in a very special way, what happens is their own right as long as both agree and give pleasure to each.

Some witches work sky-clad poetically described, in other words dressed in the sky, naked. That is a matter of preference, they give various reasons for this like: nature religion, direct contact with the Earth, the way we were born, youre equal naked there is no image creating, being open for the Gods and Goddesses as who you are.

Witches who do work in robes or clothes, have specially made or even bought ones.

You can be a witch regardless of your sex, colour of skin, or sexual preference! The craft is open to all who are genuine.
