People asked me to put some of the names of the different aspects of the Gods and the Goddesses together. Again that is a big task to do, there are 1001 names within every culture. A popular saying in the craft is:
All Goddesses are but one Goddess, all Gods are but one God!
Three is a magical number. Refers to and known by many names, and are the fates, norns and Queens of the Tuatha DeDanann. The moon as waxing, full, and waning. The Maid, who is young, joyous, no fear. Fresh and adventures. Like a budding flower in the beginning of life s spring. She is also a free woman choose whoever she wants for her company. Huntress in the wildwoods. Her colour is white. Goddesses of her nature are Bride, Artemis and Persephone. The Mother, she is mature, experienced. The nourisher of life who sometimes needs to be harsh in order to teach magic. Brings seed to new life. A powerful woman within her own right. Fertility and her colour is red. Like the Goddesses Gaia, Dana and Isis. The Crone, the Wise One, the old silver beautiful hag. She has been all and seen all. Keeping her eye on everything. Helper of the Maiden and gives compassion to the Mother. Can come across as a dark aspect, she is the gateway to the last faze we all have to embrace death. There she holds us and heals us until our return. Her colour is black. The Goddesses Morrigan, Cerridwen and Hecate.
One of the first images of The
Horned God of raw Nature is the male god form already started out before
agriculture. The cave paintings show a half-antlered hunter, half-man dressed in deerskins. Hunting in sympathetic magic, the hunter as well as the hunted. The horns or antlers are the symbol of strength, wild beauty, and force. An Alter dedicated to him is found under the Notre Dame in Paris, and is open to the public. Have a look if you re around! The god of the animals is seen everywhere like the Gundestrup Cauldron. Portrayed with horns, and wild animals surround him. In British customs and folklore the Windsor Park legend is famous Always there in hour of need. The leader of the Wild Hunt. He is the favourite God of the witches. As modern witchcraft is a Nature based religion. He is the Lord of the Dance of the rhythum of life earth and rebirth. Defender of it all. The consort, lover and champion of the Goddess. If you are happen to see a herde in the woods stop and listen to the call : hhhhrrrrrennnn!
